Poser December 6, 2007

Towards the end of the semester we also worked with a program called Poser. We first created our garments in VF Pro the imported one into Poser. Poser is also a 3d draping design program. It is more complicated and in the end looks a lot better than VF. Here are my products that i worked on in these programs the dress on the blond one I draped and shot photos of in Poser.

Zazzle in Second life December 6, 2007

So now that we have created our stores in second life and have products we made on the Zazzle web page, our teacher thought it would be a great ideal to make those Zazzle shirts in second life with a web link attached so they could also buy the shirt in real life. Embedded in the box displaying our products a person in second life can click on that box and a window appears asking if they would like to visit the web page. if they click yes the web opens on my zazzle account on that product they were just looking at.

Second life has not just been work. Its been a lot of fun too and just playing around. Here a a few pictures from a photo shoot a couple of our class mates did.

Sears Project November 5, 2007

The other week my class met with a man who works for Sears to discus a possible project with them.

We first found products on their web site that we could recreate in second life. Then began the tedious work of trying to recreate them. The hardest part was making the flexi skirts. These are a series of panels that move when your avatar moves, looking as if it was fabric flowing.

Below are the originals next to their recreations:

Texture Collection October 3, 2007

I have created a collection of textures to use in Second life all which where made in photo shop so that they are seamless. I can use them to be fabric prints or cover just about anything I make in Second life as long as they are saved as tga files.

Here is the first design I made using only the textures I uploaded.

Interesting web Sites October 1, 2007

While researching Second life I found some pretty interesting web sites. One is a video some one made with real people making fun of the problems with movement and walking around in second life. You can watch it here.

The second life nerd.

Fashion show featuring 150 avitars.

Aimee Weber made a ton of money in Second life.

Second life has a style magazine.

A woman goes from a delivery dispatcher to a fashion designer.

Zazzle October 1, 2007

Zazzle is a web site where you can create or design youre own product. You can then either buy it or publish it so others can purchase it. When something you created sells you get a percentage of the amount. For my Virtual fashion class I and my class mates will be designing things on this web page. You can check out my stuff here.

One of my designs “andyeatspandas” was featured onselected as one of Today’s Best on Zazzle. This means it appeared on the Zazzle homepage for the the day and it will also be added to a award showcase page.

Naedam September 28, 2007

Naedam is another cool boutique I found while roaming Second Life. I love the use of bright colors. One thing that amazed me is the fabric. It actually looked like fabric! The sequence tops that you can see just above really look like sequence. I am not sure how they achieve this but it looks great. They also had tank tops that looked really soft and lustrious. I have tried designing fabrics for Second life but I cannot get the same effect. It is going to take a lot of work and trial and error.

You can see some of Naedam’s designs here.
